Description

Mont Blanc and the area around the white king of the Alps offer an extremely large number of challenging ski tours and steep face descents. The Rother ski touring guide "Mont Blanc" presents 53 ski (high) routes and alpine ski descents between Megève, Chamonix and the Val Ferret.
<p

For experienced ski tourers, the book offers a wide selection of tour options: furthermore, there are the classic mountaineering tours, such as the ascent of Mont Blanc, the ascent of the Dôme du Gouter and the crossing "Les Trois Cols". There are also numerous alpine ski descents: perhaps the most famous glacier descent in the world, the Vallée Blanche descent, is also presented, as is the 800-metre-high NNE flank of the Courtes and the NW flank of the Aiguille de Bionnassay, probably the most difficult descent in this ski touring guide.</p

The ski tours require excellent skiing technique and a sound knowledge of mountaineering in the high mountains. The routes are rated with a color-coded difficulty classification and also with the French scale that is customary in the area. Exposure symbols show the prevailing slope directions at a glance and help to assess avalanche danger and snow quality. Clear tour characteristics provide information about the requirements, the best time of year and possible variants. Each route is also presented with a reliable route description and a route map with the route marked.
<p

The author Hartmut Eberlein is an experienced ski tourer and a proven expert on the Mont Blanc region.
The Rother ski touring guide "Mont Blanc" has been carefully updated for the second edition.</p
