Description

The "Alte Vie delle Dolomiti" are among the greatest long-distance hiking trails in the Alps. A mighty high mountain scenery, impressive distant views and constantly changing landscapes make every day an exciting experience. The Dolomite high-altitude trails 1 to 3 run along predominantly easy, but sometimes challenging paths. They cross the Dolomites from north to south in 10 to 15 daily stages. The Rother hiking guide "Dolomiten-Höhenwege 1-3" describes all stages and different variants of these long-distance hiking trails and contains all the information you need to complete them in compact form.

Each high-altitude trail is presented in sections from hut to hut, so that the length of the daily stages can be planned individually. The route descriptions are reliable and the map sections are detailed. The information on walking times and the altitude to be covered is also helpful. GPS tracks are available to download from the Rother Bergverlag website. All huts are presented with the relevant contact details. Bus and train connections are also listed.

The Dolomites High Trail No. 1 is the classic. It leads 150 kilometers from Lake Braies to Belluno and crosses the Sesto Dolomites and the Pelmo, Civetta and Schiara mountain groups, among others. The Dolomites High Trail no. 2 runs 185 kilometers from Brixen through the Sella, Marmolada and Pala groups to Feltre. Dolomites High Trail no. 3 is 120 kilometers long and leads from the Puster Valley through the eastern Dolomites to Longarone in the Piave Valley.
