Description

Loferer and Leoganger Steinberge - whether short or long, plaisir or hard-core, ingenious rock awaits in the Steinberge - climbing dreams come true!

In the north, the impressive, kilometre-long limestone bar of the Steinplatte, opposite to the east the Berchtesgaden Alps, and a little to the west the famous Wilder Kaiser. In the face of so much climbing prominence, the Steinberge were long overlooked. After the two most important starting points - Leogang and Lofer - the all-round exceptionally steep and rather inaccessible mountain massif is divided into two parts: the Leoganger Steinberge and the Loferer Steinberge.

The rocky Steinberge - nomen est omen - are so steep without exception that there is no altitude connection between the two huts in the area. Ideal requirements for plenty of climbing potential, which has only really been discovered in the last two decades. In the meantime, some of the longlines (Ende Nie, Pinzgauwurm) have already achieved cult status, and the Schmidt-Zabierow-Hütte is now right up there in the "ideal climbing hut" category.
