<p>Climbing guide Black Forest South - primary rock in a land of contrasts<br></p><p>The southern Black Forest is a land of contrasts: when the hedges are already sprouting in the Rhine Valley and the daffodils are blooming, you can still conjure up turns in the snow on the Black Forest mountains just a few kilometers away as the crow flies. Something that was hardly known for a long time: between the Breisgau metropolis of Freiburg and Lake Constance, there are plenty of excellent and extremely varied climbing opportunities in wonderfully solid primary rock - a varied selection of non-slip gneiss and grainy granite. Raspy slabs on Teufelsfels, structured gneiss on Gfäll, steep ledges in Schlüchttal. The Alb valley is almost Swiss-plaisir-like and from the Kandelfels the view glides across the Rhine Valley to the French Vosges.
