Description

The SnowCard is part of a quick and reliable risk check for avalanche danger. Developed by Martin Engler on the basis of the factor check, it builds on current, modern assessment methods. The SnowCard was introduced by the German Alpine Club's mountaineering teaching team as a decision-making aid.

The SnowCard is a handy prismatic map (hologram) which displays different graphics by changing the viewing angle. There is one graphic each for favorable, neutral and unfavorable slope areas. After answering three key questions, the user can quickly assess his risk. The application begins very simply for beginners using the LLB and increases in complexity with increasing self-assessment of the degree of danger and the danger spots. A 32-page guide is included as an introduction to the material, which provides information on the basic principles of use.

Martin Engler, Jan Mersch, Bergverlag Rother, 32 pages, with 22 illustrations, plastic card with plumb line and slope inclinometer, in plastic sleeve with booklet (instructions), size: 12.0 x 14.0 cm
